About Charity Week

When will Charity Week take place?

Charity Week is happening from 22nd - 28th October, but you can start planning for it as soon as you like! Just make sure that you always log your activities on your fundraising page once the week begins!

Where does Charity Week take place?

As this is a week where anyone and everyone can get involved, it's happening wherever you are! You choose where you would like you hold your event - your local park, your neighbourhood, your gym, your home… anywhere in the country.

Can I share my participation in Charity Week on social media?

Yes! Please share your news and successes on your favourite social media site by using the hashtag #CW2018. Your posts might even appear on the Charity Week site! You'll be able to see how the other supporters are doing too. You can also visit our Charity Week UK Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Fundraising

How much do I have to fundraise?

The fundraising goal for this event is however much you feel you can raise! The more you ask friends and family to support you, the greater your chance of seeing yourself on the leaderboard! If you feel you might not be able to reach the goal, please don't worry - we appreciate that you are taking part and helping to raise funds for Charity Week.

What is everydayhero and how do I use it?

everydayhero is an online fundraising platform, which you can use to collect your donations and, and you cna keep your supporters up to date with your progress on your very own fundraising page. Your fundraising page will be set up automatically when you register for Charity Week.

If you have already registered, you can log in to your page by entering the log in details you supplied when you registered. You can share your page with family and friends to encourage them to support you.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid adds 25p to every £1 donated, at no extra cost to the donor. It's a Government scheme that enables charities to claim this 'extra money' from tax that people have already paid. To allow us to claim Gift Aid, the donor has to be a UK tax payer and have paid sufficient Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount that Islamic Relief will reclaim in the tax year. If you are fundraising offline, please make sure you send your sponsorship form to us so that we can claim it.

Are there any fundraising materials?

Yes. We have created a quick guide to help you in your planning for Charity Week. You can also get in touch with your local Islamic Relief fundraiser for more fundraising tools such as buckets and t-shirts.

How do I pay in my money?

The easiest and most cost-efficient way to collect donations is by asking your supporters to donate online through your own fundraising page, because the money will come directly to Islamic Relief.

You can also send a cheque (made payable to Islamic Relief to: 16 Lower Marsh Road, London, SE1 7RJ).

How will my money help?

The donations made to you for taking part in Charity Week help us to save lives. As a result, we will be able to fund multiple projects that will change the lives of thousands of children and orphans. You can find out more about what we will be funding and how you can have a say by visiting our website.

How do I change my profile photo on everydayhero?

Go to your fundraiser page on everydayhero and hover your mouse over the box that has space for a photo. You will see a box that says 'Update Page Photo'. Click this, then click the subsequent 'Upload' button. You can then select a new photo from your computer.

How do I share my page with family and friends?

Log in to your page, and you will see text which say '4 small actions'. One of these items will share your page. Click on it, and it will highlight your link in a box below that you can drag or copy onto a Facebook post or an email. Add some text about why you are taking part in Charity Week and then share!

What is Donor Cover?

Dover cover is the fee that you can opt to contribute in addition to your donation to cover the transaction fee of donating online. The additional amount will not be given to Islamic Relief but not opting to pay the donor cover does not mean that this will be taken from your donation. Islamic Relief will absorb that cost and your donation will go straight to the cause.
